My pursuit of Market driven course at MIHS got me a dream job at Mildmay Hospital

Agwang Sarah 50 years is one who thinks she is lucky to have studied and pioneered a Diploma course in medical laboratory technology at MHIS and she doesn’t regret after wanting severally to upgrade from her certificate course in laboratory. Sarah was one of the 6 students who successfully finished her diploma course and can sigh after being retained to work at Mildmay Uganda Hospital laboratory. While she looks at the future with hope, she knows the knowledge gained will come in handy when she finally starts her own chain of laboratory, a dream she fondly speaks about.

“The courses are a top notch as they are delivered in an ample environment” echoed Godfrey Buyinza 37 years from Buikwe district who just finished a long distance Bachelors degree of science in health social systems management tutored in conjunction with Manchester University and Mildmay Uganda Health institute of sciences.

A dream swayed by a need to save a bleeding dad

Mary Kemigabo a 22-year-old can’t believe she ended up in a clinical profession because all she wanted to be was a lawyer right from her childhood. The turning point in Mary’s life was when her dad cut himself with a sharp object and bled badly that no one at home wanted to touch him yet the then 13-year-old was quick to tie her dad before he was taken to Nakasero hospital. This was when the doctor at the hospital asked Mary’s dad who tied his wound and to the doctor’s admiration, a little Mary was the reason dad was alive.

The Urge to solve the world’s most challenging yet easy problems led me to MIHS

I’ve developed a huge range of skills while on placement. I’ve also gained a good understanding of the challenges of working within the food industry, and learnt about the vast array of opportunities there are out there for nutritionists’’ remarked Ahumuza Joy a 22-year-old second born from a family of 3 from Isingiro district.
