The Urge to solve the world’s most challenging yet easy problems led me to MIHS

Ahumuza Joy

I’ve developed a huge range of skills while on placement. I’ve also gained a good understanding of the challenges of working within the food industry, and learnt about the vast array of opportunities there are out there for nutritionists’’ remarked Ahumuza Joy a 22-year-old second born from a family of 3 from Isingiro district.

The love affair for the course dates way back in Senior One at Mary Hill girls senior secondary school in Mbarara. Joy remembers how she was reminded that food alone can cure most of man’s diseases if prepared well. She just wanted an institution that would expose her to real life issues of patients with conditions that are solved by a nutritional diet in a hospital setting and she got one in Mildmay Uganda. She vividly remembers her first lecture from her lecturer Masette Joyce of MIHS who reiterated that people get sick because of poor use of food. From that day, Joy is an ever present student in her class of 8 other students receiving quality hands on skills and knowledge from MIHS.

"When it comes to hands-on experience in human nutrition and dietetics, Mildmay Institute of Health Sciences is one of the leading institutions that offer quality hands on training’’. Interpolated the Academic Registrar MIHS, Mr Venantius Kirwana.

Mildmay Institute of Health Sciences in conjunction with Uganda Christian University (UCU) are implementing a diploma in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and offered under Modular basis with practical training delivered at the state of the Art Mildmay Uganda Hospital.
